HOURS - During the school year, our hours of operation are 12:00-6:00pm Monday through Friday. During the summer & during school breaks our hours of operation are: 7:30-5:30pm. Please click on the calendar link for closure dates.
LATE PICK UPS - ESS closes promptly at 6:00pm. A late pick-up fee will be assessed when a child is left beyond ESS operating hours. The late pick-up fee does not constitute an agreement for ESS to provide after-hours service, nor will the late fee be applied toward monthly fees. Chronic lateness at closing time may be grounds for disenrollment, per the Parent Handbook. A late pick up fee will be charged after closing as follows:
- 1-10 minutes $1.00 per minute, per child
- 11-30 minutes $30 per child
- 31-60 minutes $60 per child
*If the parent or other authorized person fails to pick up the child and/or contact ESS, and if no one can be reached within sixty minutes after closing time, ESS and/or school personnel may release the child to the custody of Child Protective Services or other legal authorities.
REGISTRATION - Space is limited. We currently have a waitlist. When a spot opens up, ESS will contact those who have been waiting. We will need an enrollment packet filled out along side a payment (registration fee + first months fees) to complete regristration. New families can start 2 business days after forms and payment are submitted. Highland Ranch ESS serves students in grades TK through 5 during the school year and serves Kinder-6th during summer breaks. We no longer have a morning program since school opens their gates at 7:15 for breakfast. We are currenlty just an afternoon program that runs from 12-6:00pm.

DISENROLLMENT OF ENROLLMENT: Accounts two weeks in arrears may result in immediate termination of enrollment. Upon payment, enrollment may be reinstated with applicable paid tuition and $75.00 registration fee. Past due accounts may be referred to collections for past due balances. ESS contracts with a Collections Agency. If the account is sent to collections, parents will be responsible for the balance due plus fees associated with the collection of the account.
DISTRICT RECESS/BREAK RATE - ESS is closed for Thanksgiving & Winter break. For President's and Spring break we are open however you MUST sign up to attend days we are open. These breaks are a additional cost to your monthly dues if you are given a spot. Due to staffing and a increase in childcare hours spots for this week are limited. Registration for all breaks and recesses is for the entire recess or break (no single days). Check the fee schedule for rates.
SIGNING IN & OUT - Students must be signed in and out of ESS daily. Only an authorized person with a picture I.D. can sign a child out of ESS. Please ADD all authorized personel to your digital emergency card via the parent portal. Your child is expected at ESS each day. Please notify us whenever your child WILL NOT attend ESS on any given day. We except notification at leat 1 hour before school dismissal via email, phone or text.
VACATION & ABSENCES - Parents must provide a two-week written notice in order to receive vacation credit. Credit is given in five-day increments only. Each child is allowed two weeks per school year, excluding Winter Break, President's Week, and Spring Break (these are optional attendance time frames). If you choose to extend the two-week allotment, a withdrawal from the program is required. There are no refunds for absences due to illness or partial attendance.
ILLNESS & MEDICATION - If your child is not feeling well, please do not send him/her to school or ESS. Students who have been ill must be well, and fever free, for 24 hours before returning to ESS or school. If your child becomes ill or suspected to be contagious, you will be notified to pick him/her up promptly. It is very important that you keep us updated on changes in work, home, cell, and emergency phone numbers.
ESS will administer medication (prescription or non-prescription) to students only if a PUSD Authorization for Medical Administration Form has been completed by a physician and parent. All medication must be in the original container. Sunscreen, chap stick and non-medicated cough drops need only the parent's portion of the form filled in and signed. Severe Allergies? We would need forms signed from their doctor as well as all medication needed.
